- 1866 - First graduating 3-year class, under Superintendent-Principal Scot Dougal. The eleven graduates were: Nettie Welty, Ada Cully, Alice Cully, Jennie McCullough, Ida McElhinney, Dan Cully, Sherman Adams, Harry Homan, Charles Slusser, George Freet and John Stoll.
- 1889, 1891, 1894, and 1897 are the earlier graduating classes.
- 1891 - First years a high school location was found. Earlier years no location was noted.
- 1891 - Large two-story building was built on South Church Street, the site of the West wing of the former elementary school. Students in grades 1-8 were housed on the first floor and the high school classes were on the second floor which included a combination auditorium and gymnasium.
- 1892 - The small 3-room brick school used by all departments since at least the 1850s was replaced with the high school occupying the second floor. Only outdoor plumbing existed.
- 1898 - A class graduated each year
- 1902 - Only graduated 5 students
- 1906 - First football games in Dalton was played on Thanksgiving Day against Orrville at an east field.
- 1906 - First known mention was made at this time of the school colors, orange and black.
- 1910 - Last graduating class with only 3 years of high school
- 1911 - Only Ada Jackson graduated.
- 1920 - The High School Song was composed with music written by Ruth Ruff and the words by Harriet P. McFarren.
- 1920s-1966 - School land along the south side of the Athletic Court was graded and became Dalton's first athletic field being used for football, baseball, and track.
- 1920s - Dalton High School bands under the direction of Donald Garver, Instrumental Director.
- 1924 - New high school was dedication which was later the intermediate school. The new school was the focus of community activities.
- Up to mid-1930s - Marshallville operated a 3-year high school until the State of Ohio required them to have 4 years at Marshallville or else attend a 4-year school. Marshallville elected to attend Dalton High School.
- 1935 - 32 student graduated.
- 1935 - Dalton played its initial football game under lights at Wooster against the Harris Paints team.
- 1936 - January, First school buses ran after Christmas vacation. The earliest drives were Harvey Blosser, Fred Fahrney, and Adam Amstutz.
- 1936 - Dalton High School included Marshallville students through the Class of 1953.
- 1938 - A new six room addition, two level added with a new west entrance.
- 1943 - January, First mention of "Bulldogs" occurred in the Dalton Gazette during an account of a basketball game with Orrville.
- 1948 - Victor Gerber, Band Director was losing male musicians to the game of football. So, he organized an All-Marching Band which had 5 majorettes, with arrangements by Victor Gerber and routines devised by the girls.
- 1950 - New one story elementary building was constructed on the grounds south of the Intermediate building which housed 8 classrooms.
- 1953 - Class of 1953 was the last years Marshallville students were to graduate from Dalton. The State of Ohio refused to permit Marshallville to transport students through Orrville City School District to reach Dalton High School, so, Marshallville chose to become part of the Green Local School District in Smithville, Ohio.
- 1954 - Athletic field lighting did not appeared locally.
- 1955 - A Cafeteria and other rooms added along with a new front entrance.
- 1963 - An $866,000 Bond Issue for the new high school was approved.
- 1963 - Kay Rogers directed the band.
- 1966 - November 6, Dalton High School building was dedication.
- 1970 - Parent pressure reinstituted the marching band to a conventional mixed group.
- 1986 - 71 student graduated while Billie McFarren was Principal.
