Biographical Sketch

Barnhart Long was born in Switzerland on December 7, 1805. He married Margaret Bollinger, daughter of Conrad and Anna Bollinger, in 1832 in Pennsylvania. The first two known children: Sophia and Conrad, were born in Pennsylvania. By the birth of John B. Long in 1840, the family had relocated to Wayne County, Ohio. While residing in Wayne County, six more children were born to this union. In November 1882, Barnhart and Margaret Long celebrated 50 years of marriage with a host of family and friends. [1]. In February 1892, Margaret passed away. From her obituary, Margaret was born in Germany. A few weeks later, Barnhart succumbed to death at the home of his son, Frederick Long of Mansfield, Ohio. [2] Barnhart Long was well respected in the community.
