Brief Narrative

245 Beall Ave (27 Beall Ave), In-lot Number 688

The Wayne County, OH Auditor’s webpage indicates this home was built in 1861. I am not sure who built the structure. It is believed that Anthony Wright and his family were the first residents of this home. On 1 March 1860, Wright purchases the property from Nancy C. Spink (Wayne County, OH Land Deeds, vol. 49 p. 725). There is another entry dated 28 December 1861 recorded on the land deeds vol. 54 pp. 45-46. Nancy Spink had inherited the property from her father, General Reasin Beall.

Upon the death of Anthony Wright in 1895, the home was inherited by his only surviving daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Wright, married to James Moffett Quinby. James Quinby dies in 1904. In 1908, Elizabeth (Wright) Quinby sells lot number 688 to William A. and Mary A. Fike. William and Mary Fike have a daughter Cree A. Fike who marries Oscar Jacob Lorson. Eventually, Oscar and Cree purchase the property, year is unknown. They have one daughter, Elisabeth M. Lorson, who inherits the property following the death of her parents (1987) (Cree A. Lorson dies 20 Feb 1983 and Oscar Jacob Lorson dies 7 Jan 1987.) In 2007, Elisabeth Lorson sells the property to the Donald & Alice Noble Foundation, Inc. About 5 months later, the Foundation gives the property to the Liberty Center Connections, Inc./Community Crossroads, Inc. In 2009, Elisabeth “Betty” M. Lorson succumbs to death. From 2010 until present, the house has served as a Pathway House, providing housing for individuals receiving treatment and recovering from alcoholism.
