"Ohio became a state in 1803...so the Federal Census of 1810 was the first one taken in the state. The complete records do not exist however, as these were among a few others that were in the national Capitol in Washington when it was burned in 1814...

"Wayne County did not exist in 1810. It had been authorized by the state legis[la]ture in 1808 but the organization was not completed until 1812. The area that became Wayne County that year was included in the 1810 census as Killbuck Township of Columbiana County."
