Comprehensive History
The 2-story brick Yocum Building, once located at 143 N. Market St. was constructed in 1923 after a house and barn formerly standing on the property were torn down by property owner Ohio M. Yocum. He moved his business school, Yocum Wooster Business College from the third floor of the Annat's store building into his new building on N. Market street. In 1925 the addition house for H. M. Henery Printer was built onto the building. Ohio M. Yocum closed the school in 1935. After 1935 Yocum ran an office supply business in the building until August of 1946 when he sold the office supply business to Edward E. Myers. However, Yocum continued to own the building until his death in October of 1957. Then the business partnership of Edward E. and James E. Myers purchased the building from the Yocum estate and operated Wooster Office Equipment in the building and rented office space to other businesses.
The building was demolished and replaced with a parking lot and small office/retail building.
