Comprehensive History

In 1835, Simon Ewing built this two-story home, using locally quarried stones for a solid foundation and bricks for the aboveground stories. During the Civil War, the house served as a stop on the Underground Railroad.[1]

James Brinkerhoff purchased the original 87-acre farm from the Ewing family in 1908, and the property later passed down his family line to his great-grandson Winston L. Wyckoff, Jr. By 1995, the farm had expanded to 900 acres with the purchase of neighboring farms, and Wyckoff and his son Winston "Winnie" Wyckoff III worked together to run the farm.[2]
