Obituary of Wayne E. Buehler, Food Market Prexy

Wayne E. Buehler]], 49, president of Buehler Food Markets, Inc., died of an apparent sudden illness Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Wooster City Police report, Mr. Buehler was driving north on Cleveland Road about 1:20 p.m. when his vehicle drove over the curb on the right side of the road, striking and shearing off a utility pole.

When police officers arrived there was a cluster of persons around the driver's side of the vehicle.

Mr. Buehler was removed from the car, and both a police officer and a physician who was passing by applied mouth-to-mouth respiration without success.

The officer said he could detect no sign of life when he arrive don the scene.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at McIntire Funeral Home with Dr. Paul Schlueter]] of Trinity UCC officiating.

Friends may call tonight (Thursday) 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Wooster Cemetery.

Ebenezer Lodge 33 F and AM will hold ritualistic services at 7:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Friends are asked to omit flowers. Those who wish may donate to the Wayne County Heart Branch, Box 267, Wooster.

Mr. Buehler was born in New Philadelphia on May 15, 1922, to Edward L. and Helen ({{Surname|Ridenour) Buehler.

He graduated from Wooster High School in 1940 and attended Ohio State University and Ashland College.

World War II interrupted his college work, and he enlisted in the US Army Air Corps. He served from Step 15, 1942-1946, and then entered the reserves at Cleveland until 1950 when he reenlisted. He was released in 1954 as a captain, having served 13 years in the US Army Air Force.

Active in business affairs besides being president of Buehler Food Markets, Inc., he was a director of Columbia National Insurance Co., Columbus.

He was a member of Trinity UCC, Noon Lions Club, Wooster Elks, Ebenezer Lodge 33 F and AM, Scottish Rite, Wooster Shrine Club, Al Koran Temple and Co. A National Society of Pershing Rifles.

He was an avid pilot and held all pilot licenses except those required for jets. He held a commercial license and served as an instructor at Wayne County Airport. Survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Constance) Garcia of Canton; two sons, John and Bradley Allen, both of Wooster; two grandchildren; his mother of Wooster; a sister, Mrs. Donald (Eileen) Bupp of Wooster RD 3; and two brothers, Eugene and Donald of Wooster.

His father, Edward L. Buehler, founder of the Buehler Food Market, Inc., died January 18, 1968.
