Brief History

In 1973, the Wayne County Center for the Arts had its beginnings on the campus of the College of Wooster. Ten years later, in 1983, the Rubbermaid Foundation purchased the old abandoned Walnut Street School (built in 1902) and renovated the building for the Wayne County Center for the Arts. In November 1984, the organization moved into the building. In June 1999, the Rubbermaid Foundation donated the building to the Wayne Center for the Arts.
