Mr. Harry, who is a native of this state, is a thoroughly practical and experience artist, and has been engaged in this branch of business in this city for the past 14 years, with the exception of an absence of three years. He conducts one of the leading photograph galleries of this city and county, well supplied with newest improved devices for the perfect mechanical execution of every description of photographic work in card, budoir, cabinet or panel sizes, and executes portraits in India ink, oil or water colors, enlarging old pictures and guaranteeing to his patrons first-class and highly finished work in all departments of the business. His reception room is finely fitted up and presents and attractive display of finely executed work, to an inspection of which visitors are invited. [1]

William H. Harry was born in Wooster, Ohio on March 17, 1850 being one of four sons born to Jesse Harry (2/14/1816-3/25/1882) and Eliza A. Stair|(Stair) Harry, both born in York County, Pennsylvania. William H. Harry learned the photography business by working with Benjamin F. Baltzly for a number of years before venturing out on his own by leasing the Teeple Art Gallery in September of 1873 in Wooster, Ohio. After William H. Harry died at 43 years old on August 19, 1892[1] his brother Albert S. Harry, operated the photographic studio until he sold it to Samuel H. Dawson in 1894.
