Comprehensive History

This Century House was built in 1864 by Jonathon Smucker as the family home on his 100-acre farm. Acreage was added over the years, but the farm remained in the Smucker and Rohrer family up to present day. The house is currently owner by Rohrer Farms, Inc.

The farm's barn was built in 1863 and had several wings added over the years, including "several imposing silos."[1] A second farmhouse was added in 1908, while a garage and other buildings were added later.

Under Milton Rohrer, Jonathon's great-grandson, the farm expanded greatly as he purchased other area farms, including the 130-acre Pontius farm, the 108-acre Beyeler farm, the 160-acre Arick farm, and the 100-acre Schrock farm.[2]
