  • 1913 - September 11, High tension trolley wire started a fire in the Farmer's Telephone Company office located over the Abraham L. Ober Harness Shop destroying a third of the business block. "Fire broke out in the business section of the village of Creston early last Thursday morning, which caused a $20,000 loss of property. The fire it is though originated from crossed wires in the office of the Wayne county telephone company. The following business places were totally destroyed: A. L. Ober, harness shop; Schlegel & Son, meat market; Goodman piano store; F. A. Ritzi, jewelry store; Schlegel & Sigler, barber shop, and Wayne County telephone office." [1]
