Samuel Bell (1777-1829)

Samuel Bell was born in 1777 in Ballymoyle, Londonderry, Ireland. He married Sarah Johnston and they had a son, Alexander J. Bell. Alexander married Effie Cunningham (1809-1879) and they had one son and two daughters. Their children were: Ebenezer Bigham (1839-?), Sarah Camilla (1841-?) and Nancy Matilda (1845-1889). All three children were born in Ripley Township, Holmes County, Ohio. Samuel Bell purchased 160 acres in the southeast quarter of section 19 in Franklin Township, Wayne County, Ohio on 6 January 1815. A second purchased of land was made in the northwest quarter of section 14 in Ripley Township, Wayne County, Ohio (now in Holmes County, Ohio). He is listed in the 1826 Wayne County Tax List as paying taxes on the north half of the southeast quarter. At this time, he owned 80 acres valued at $196. His estate was appointed on 6 March 1829 in Wayne County, Ohio.
