- At this point in the research, I am no closer to determining the parents of Samuel ARNOLD born 1801 in Maryland.
- ARNOLD. He was a son of Samuel B. and Mary Phillips|PHILLIPS ARNOLD. The sketch mentions that Samuel ARNOLD, father of Eli ARNOLD came to Wayne County, OH with his parents when he was 12 years old. He married Mary Phillips|PHILLIPS in Wayne County, OH[1]. Samuel and Mary remained in Wayne County, Ohio until 1835 when they removed to Medina County, OH then to Wells County, IN in 1838. Samuel and Mary Phillips|PHILLIPS ARNOLD and family are residing in Jackson Township, Wells County, Indiana in the 1850 United States for Wells County, Indiana.

- Census, United States, Ohio, Wayne County, 1820 There is one Samuel Arnold listed in Sugar Creek Township, Wayne County, Ohio. He is at least 45 years old. There are two females and two males under the age of 10 living with him. There is a female between 25 and 45, probably his wife.
- Census, United States, Ohio, Wayne County, 1830 there are two Samuel Arnold families residing in Sugar Creek Township, Wayne County, Ohio. The first one is between 50 and 60 and his possible wife is between 30 and 45. There is 1 male under 5; 1 male between 5 and 10; 1 male between 10 and 15; 1 male between 15 and 20; two females between 5 and 10; and 1 female between 15 and 20. The second Samuel Arnold is between 20 and 30; his wife is between 20 and 30; and they have 1 male and 1 female under the age of 5. I believe the 2nd Samuel is the one you are descendant from. The older Samuel did have a son Samuel, but he was not born until 19 Jul 1817 from thee Arnold Family History.

The biographical sketch seems to indicate that though Samuel ARNOLD was born in Maryland, his parents moved to Pennsylvania at an early age.

- Information on the Internet indicating that Samuel B. ARNOLD was born 31 Jan 1801 in Maryland and his wife Mary Phillips|PHILLIPS was born 24 Aug 1807 in NY. The record indicated Samuel B. ARNOLD died on 16 January 1875 in Wells County, IN and is buried in the Asbury Cemetery in Wells Co, IN. Mary did not die until 7 Jul 1895. She died in Wells Co, IN and is also buried in the Asbury Cemetery. [2]

- 1826 Wayne County Ohio Tax List There is one Samuel ARNOLD listed as owning 2 horses and 2 cows but no land. I am not sure if this Samuel ARNOLD is the Senior or the Junior. I do know the older Samuel ARNOLD and his wife Elizabeth Plum|PLUM did own land is section 4 of Sugar Creek Township, Wayne County, Ohio but it was sold in 1824 to Steward/Steven Cox.

- Biographical and Historical Record of Adams County, Indiana and Wells County, Indiana and get a copy of pages 772-776. This leads me to believe there are several segments missing from the biographical sketch of Eli ARNOLD. Also, you may want to consult the book to see if there are any other biographical sketches on the ARNOLD family.
- The sketch does imply that Samuel ARNOLD was born in Maryland.
