Rules for the Wooster Public Library and Museum (1905)

Hours

  • Hours: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM Monday through Friday
  • Hours: 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Saturday

Fines

  • Adults: $0.02 per day to a maximum of $1.00 - Unless book was lost or destroyed in which case they were expect to pay for the book.
  • Children: $0.01 per day to a maximum of $0.50.

Patron rules

  • All Wayne County residents were entitled to library cards.
  • Children could obtain a library card after completing First grade.
  • Adults could borrow a reasonable number of books, only one of which could be from the 7-day shelf.
  • Children could take 3 books per visit during the school year and more in the summer with the librarians permission.


Duties of the Librarian

  • Prepare the budget.
  • Nominate the staff members
  • Oversee the selection of books, periodicals and other materials and to plan for the libary's growth and development.

All of this was to be done "within the limits of the policies worked out by the Board and the librarian together."
