  • 1880 - Daniel Ramseyer started farming in Wayne County, Ohio
  • 1883 - Alvin Conrad Ramseyer, age 3, came to Smithville, Ohio
  • 1906 - Alvin (A.C.) Ramseyer, age 23, farmed with Daniel Ramseyer, his father raising a crop of potatoes; began farming Guernsey dairying and imported a herd from Guernsey Island
  • 1920s late - A.C. Ramseyer was milking over 200 head of cattle
  • 1932 - Entire herd, except one cow perished in a barn fire; A.C. Ramseyer switched from dairy cows and centered his farming around the production of potatoes; farm covered 2,000 acres
  • prior WWII - A.C. cultivated over 1,300 acres of potatoes.
  • 1946 - Sold half of his Wayne County land and bought 3,000 acres in the Rio Grand Valley of Texas.
  • 1948 - Alvin (A.C.) Ramseyer died on a boat headed for England to attend the 1948 Olympic Games. Sons A.C. Ramseyer, Jr. and Arden continued running the farm.
