Howard Wenger (Left) was presented with a plaque by Dalton School Superintendent Duane Miller in appreciation for Wenger's 12 years of service on the Dalton Local School Board.

Board members and principals gathered on Tuesday at the Das Dutch Kitchen for a small dinner to honor Wenger. Wenger was elected to three 4-year terms on the school board, a total of 12 years, one for each year he spent in the Dalton school system as a student, he noted. While on the board, he saw superintendent Robert Pack retire, and be replaced with Fred Blosser. Blosser was replaced with the current Superintendent Duane Miller. Wenger said he has some good board members to work with over the years and noted there was only one levy passed in the 12 years, which speaks of how well the district is run. He credits a good community and school staff as the reason Dalton's school system is in good shape also. Howard is president of Wenger Excavating and he and his wife Sandy have three children, Stephanie, Jeff and H. J.
