Also known as the John F. Myers Family Bible. TITLE PAGE MISSING, WAS IN A BOX OF BOOKS TO BE SOLD AT PUBLIC AUCTION. COPIED THE DATA, RAIN CAME AND I LEFT WITHOUT KNOWING THE PURCHASER. (EDNA K. CONRAD) Bible seems to have made it's way to the Wayne County Public Library Genealogy and Local History Department sometime between 1995-2017.

The cover is made from carved wood, possible with a leather overlay. The metal clasp is still present. The cover is separated from the binding as well as the first several pages of the Bible. The Myers Family Bible is in poor condition.

BIBLE CONTAINED A NEWSPAPER CLIPPING, AN OBIT. DATA GIVEN ABOUT "CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS MYERS," WAS BORN IN WESTMORELAND COUNTY, PA ON APRIL 1, 1831 AND FELL ASLEEP AT HIS HOME IN WEST SALEM, OH ON DEC. 21, 1905. AT THE AGE OF TWO HE MOVED TO WAYNE COUNTY, OH WITH HIS PARENTS. SEPT. 25, 1853 HE MARRIED ELIZABETH TALLEY. THEY THEN MOVED TO HANCOCK COUNTY, OH. HE FOLLOWED HIS TRADE AS A BLACKSMITH AND MANUFACTURER OF TOOLS. TWO AND ONE HALF YEARS LATER RETURNED TO WAYNE COUNTY AND SETTLED IN THE OLD HOMESTEAD IN KILL BUCK VALLEY, NEAR ARMSTRONG STATION WHERE HE LIVED UNTIL 1881, WHENCE HE MOVED TO ASHLAND COUNTY, NEAR WEST SALEM, IN LATER YEARS HE LIVED IN WEST SALEM. HE WAS THE FATHER OF EIGHT CHILDREN, THREE DAUGHTERS AND FIVE SONS. ONE DAUGHTER DIED IN INFANCY. SONS: WILL DIED SEPT. 4, 1886 IN IDAHO; MARION RESIDED IN SEATTLE, WASHINGTON; GEORGE IN MEDORS, NO RTH DAKOTA; EDD IN DICKINSON NORTH DAKOTA: JOE ON THE HOME FARM; MRS. NAFTZGER NEAR WEST SALEM; MRS. HEFS (I BELIEVE IT IS SPELLED HESS) IN ASHLAND, HE WAS A MEMBER OF ZION CHAPEL U.B. CHURCH. FUNERAL WAS HELD AT THE M.E. CHURCH, WEST SALEM OH BY REV. JENNIE METSKER.
