Comprehensive History
Mt. Eaton Presbyterian Church was established 20 June 1818. The original building was a log structure built in 1820 on the southeast corner of Sugar and Chestnut Streets of Mount Eaton. 22 Oct 1821, SE corner of Sugar & Chestnut Streets deeded to Trustees Henry Solomon, Jacob Powell, Paul Solomon, Basil H. Warfield, James Latta from James Galbraith - Wayne County Land Deeds, Vol. 8, pg. 201. 7 Aug 1843, Lots 131-134 in the village on west side of S. Market St., almost across from the schoolhouse were deeded to trustees David Lash, Alex Culbertson & Edward McFadden from James Galbraith, Robert Henderson & others, Wayne County Land Deeds, Vol. 26, pg. 193. Sources found for this church were History of Wayne County, Ohio, Ben Douglas, 1878, page 590, Beginnings of Wayne County in 1812, Richard Smith (compiler), pages 33 & 36 and Wooster Daily Record, 6 Sep 1948.
