- early 1940s - established - "sugar was being rationed and they had difficulty obtaining enough of it to fill the display case with baked goods. However, U.S. Congressman John McSweeny pulled a few strings and was able to get them enough sugar so that Goodright's dad could do what he loved to do -- bake." [1]
- 1946 - Shank brothers expanded and purchased Lerch's Bakery changing the name to Lerch's Pastry Shop with John Lerch continuing to operate the Lerch's donut stand at the Wayne County Fairgrounds -- a business he started in 1934. [2]
- 1947 - Fred Shank sold his share in the two bakeries to his brother Clarence Shank [3]
- 1947 - Clarence Shank in turn sold the business to Charles J. Moore and his wife Marguerite Moore for the next 19 years it was Moore's Coffee Shop [4]
