George Halfhill (1779-1846)

George Halfhill was born in 1779 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Matthias Halfhill (1749-1826) and Elizabeth Livingood (1755-1818). George Halfhill married Mary Catherine Bonewitz in 1817 in Wayne County, Ohio. George and Elizabeth Halfhill had seven children. They were: Charlotte (1807-?), Susannah (1809-?), Rebecca (1811-?), Rosann Eve (1814-1883), Catherine (1816-1874), Jacob (1818-1868) and Julia Ann (1823-1914). George Halfhill died in January 1846. George Halfhill purchased property in the southwest quarter of section 1 in Salt Creek Township, Wayne County, Ohio. He is listed in the 1820 and 1830 US Census for Salt Creek Township, Wayne County, Ohio. He is listed in the 1826 Wayne County Tax List for Salt Creek Township owning 160 acres valued at $353. His estate was appointed 17 January 1846 in Wayne County, Ohio.
