History

The Funk Bottoms Wildlife Area is made up of 1,536 acres of land in portions of Wayne and Ashland counties. Towns include east Blachleyville, through Funk and west Lake Fork in Ashland County, Ohio.

Purchase of land for the wildlife area established in 1991. Additional land is acquired as funding becomes available and when landowners are willing to sell.

Funding

  • In 2007, $45,600 from the Charles W. and Mary K. Mohler Memorial Fund was used to purchase 60 acres.
  • In 2019, $160,000 from the Charles W. and Mary K. Mohler Memorial Fund was used to purchase 38 acres. This has been the most recent acquisition of property in the wildlife area.
