Comprehensive History
First Congregational Church (now Fredericksburg Presbyterian) was established in 1878 in Fredericksburg. It merged with the United Presbyterian Church in 1919 to form the Federated Church. That building was razed in 1949. According to B.F. Bowen's History of Wayne County, published in 1910, this was the only organization of Congregational people within Wayne County. Sources found for this church include; Church Histories of Wayne County Ohio, Wipert p. 102, History of Wayne County, Ohio, B.F. Bowen & Co., 1910, Vol. 1, page 278 and History of Wayne County, Ohio 1987, page 66 & 67.
