"The New Reading room.

Responses So Generous That It Is An Assured Fact.

The ladies enterprise for the establishment of a free reading room in Wooster is now and assured success. Sufficient money has already been raised to make a start and the large room on the ground floor in the Quinby block South of Brawdshaw’s Jewelry store is now undergoing a thorough renovating, cleaning, papering, and other improvements necessary to render it attractive and comfortable. Several handsome donations have been made by our generous business men. Zimmer & co. have contributed the wall paper, Mssrs. Landis & Schmuck a large picture. Besides liberal discounts on other furniture; Mr. Lehman three handsome pictures, Messrs. McClure & Hinton a costly stove, Mr. Wm. Shibley a handsome clock. The many donations have been numerous and generous. The ladies are loud in their praise of the kindly and generous spirit shown by Mr. John Talbot in fitting up the room according to their wishes. Thanks are also due to the W.C.T.U. ladies for the loan of their furniture.

It should be remembered that it is the purpose of the committee having the matter in charge to develop this reading room into a public library. No large sum has yet been raised for books, but some books have been contributed by individuals. The committee desires that any person having books, pictures, ornaments, or anything which would tend to render the room attractive, which they would be willing to donate to promote a good cause, should send them to the room on Friday of this week.

The enterprise this time is a success. Let us make it a permanent success."
