Comprehensive History

located at 127 Mill Street, Burbank was established in 1833. Members met in the home of Christian Hower until a frame church was built in 1837. In 1872/73 a brick building was built. It was destroyed by fire in September 1894. The congregation rebuilt and this building (present building) was dedicated in March 1895. Sources for this church included History of Wayne County, Ohio 1987, page 61 and the Faith United Methodist Church in Burbank History, located in the United Methodist Religious / Grantmaking / Civil / Profession and Similar Organizations of Wayne County, OH notebook which is found in the Genealogy Dept. at Wayne County Public Library.   • 1871 - Methodist Church built, "costing nearly $14,000, and the finest structure of the town. In it was the "old town clock" of which no other town in Northern Ohio of its size could boast". [1]
  • 1894 - Fire destroyed church. "Only the Bible and organ were saved from the church." [2]
