IN THE ORDER OF THE ARMY.

Colonel FRANK C. GERLACH, Commanding the 145th Regiment of American Infantry:
“A superior officer, of the first order. In the different affairs in which his regiment was engaged, he showed a spirit of initiative, courage, and an exceptional energy. Under the fire of the enemy, he never failed to show the finest composure, inspiring in all the greatest confidence.” (Order No. 13316. “D”).
