Comprehensive History

The two-story house built in the Victorian Italianate style sometime before 1856 housed three notable Wooster families: Dr. James D. Robison and family, Andrew M. and Malinda Parrish and family, and Dr. Alonzo C. and Gail Smith and family. After Dr. Smith died in 1943, his widow Gail owned the house, and after a second marriage to Ted Robson, she sold the house in 1960 to the City of Wooster for demolition and the construction of a new fire station.

  • Before 1856: House built by Dr. James D. Robison on lot 492. Original address was 158 N. Market St. Robison also owned lots 493 and 503.
  • 1889: Lot 493 sold to Malinda Parrish. No mention of lot 492 made in this transaction.
  • 1894-5: Andrew M. Parrish (Malinda's husband) lists residence as 158 N. Market St., Wooster
  • 1895: Dr. James D. Robison dies
  • 1917: Andrew M. Parrish dies
