A CALL To Arms At a call meeting of Given Post, G. A. R., Sunday, April 24, 1898, on motion of R. J. Smith, “As an evidence of commendation and appreciation of our own Company D, of the Eighth Regiment, O. N. G., for the exhibition of loyalty in response to a call from the President of the United States to sustain the honor of the Stars and Stripes, Resolved, That Given Post, G. A. R., assemble at the Hall at the hour the the departure of our brave boys and escort them to the depot with Given Post Drum Corps. Furthermore, be it Resolved, That we invite all the businessmen of the city to participate by decorating and closing their places of business for one hour prior to their departure. And also accompany the Post and extend to them the good cheer that was extended to us in the War of the Rebellion. R. J. Smith, Harry McClarran, Harvey Parker, Committee.
