Historical Information
It was laid out by George H. Howey on March 6, 1829. It was surveyed by George Emery. The plat was recorded May 8, 1829.
When the father of Jacob Piper settled the township, there was oly one man there, named Mr. Loper, living in a cabin by the creek on the west side. John Hall built the first house, and ran the first hotel north of Joseph Findley's.[1]
