Location

    Milton Township was established October 5, 1818. Jacob Kieffer, one of the earliest pioneers suggested the name of "Center Swamp Township," because there was a large swamp in the center of it. George Bair objected and instead suggested Milton Township.[1]

    It was formed from the originally surveyed township 18 in range 12.[2]
