Historical Information
Until 1810, all of Wayne County was one township named Killbuck, after the old Indian chief of the same name.[1] The original Killbuck Township was wiped from the map when Wayne County was formally organized in 1812 and the first set of county officers divided Wayne County into four named townships Sugar Creek, Wooster, Mohecan, and Prairie. However, in 1964
Wooster City is located in Killbuck Township. According to an article written by Elinor Taylor on 14 February 1985, "Bloomington Was Wooster's New Kid on the Block", Killbuck Township was established on March 9, 1964.
